Latchford Albion 20 Parachute Regiment 20

A pulsating clash between Latchford Albion and the Pararchute Regiment ended all square on in front of a large crowd at the Victoria Park Arena.

Albion started well and opened the scoring when Joe Clarke used his strength to cross out wide. The next 20 minutes was a physical battle with neither side willing to back down. The Paras however took the lead with a converted try through their impressive full back and just before half time a second Paras try left the half time score at 4 – 10.

As with the first half Latchford started the stronger after the break and levelled the score when Clarke scored his second following good work by Martin Whitehead, with debutant Jamie Hodgkiss converting.

Ryan Hickman edged Latchford back into the lead when he held off three defenders to cross by the posts, Hodgkiss again converted.

Stu Simm was next to score when good hands allowed the ball to reach the winger and he used his pace to score out wide.

At 20- 10 Albion had turned the game around but credit the to the Paras who never gave up and were rewarded with a try to reduce the deficit and with four minutes left on the clock they scored again and converted to secure a draw which on reflection was a fair result on a fantastic evening.
