Centenary “stepping out” with their latest show

WARRINGTON-based Centenary Theatre Company are getting ready to put on their tap shoes for their latest production “Stepping Out” at the Brindley Theatre, Runcorn.
Based on the 1984 play by Richard Harris, which was then adapted into a successful movie with Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters, the play concerns eight individuals who attend a weekly tap dancing class in a dingy North London church hall.
Despite the students at first treating the classes as social occasions, and showing little co-ordination, they later develop a level of skill and cohesiveness. The dance routines are the background for the focus of the play, the relationships and interactions of different people.
“Stepping Out” is a hilarious, touching and toe-tapping story about everyday problems and having the confidence to live out dreams and experience new things. A message that Centenary encourages to all its members.
Last year was a successful one for the multi-award winning company with shows Educating Rita, Grease, Once A Catholic and Oliver. Centenary has an action packed programme planned for this year and it all starts with “Stepping Out”.
The show runs from February 7-11 The Brindley Theatre, Runcorn. Tickets are £14 and are available for purchase on 0151 907 8360 or www.thebrindley.org.uk.
