DETECTIVES have charged a local male with two armed robberies in the Orford area, one involving a handgun and the other a knife being held at the victim’s throat.

The male is now in custody in relation to a robbery at the Post Office on Poplars Avenue, which took place early in the morning of Saturday 7th January.

During the incident he allegedly entered the shop brandishing a handgun which was pointed at the shop assistant before stealing cash from the till. The same male has also been charged with an aggravated burglary on the 19th January when he entered an address in the Orford area with a knife which he held to the victim’s throat before making off with cash.

Police would like to thank the local community who have assisted with the investigation and are continuing to make enquiries in relation to other recent offences in the Warrington area.

Anyone with information about the robberies can call Cheshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

  1. Well done to the police and those who have assisted with information leading to his arrest. Hope he’s locked up for a long time.

Here’s hoping the police catch the person/people responsible for all the other robberies on small local shops in the Warrington area over the past month too. I believe the Spar Shop on Honiton Way square at Penketh was targeted last night too (Saturday) shortly before closing by a hammer whielding low life idiot.
