NOMINATIONS are now open to help give credit to people whose work makes a difference to other people’s lives in this year’s Warrington’s Volunteer Star awards.
Warrington Borough Council has teamed up with Warrington Voluntary Action for the fifth year to celebrate the vital role volunteers play in local communities.
This is an chance for community groups to recognise the achievements of that exceptional volunteer who has made a positive impact over the past year.
Cllr Tony Higgins, the council’s lead member for leisure said: “We are seeking nominations for this year’s awards to celebrate the achievements of volunteers across Warrington.
“We want to shine the spotlight on our unsung heroes, the people whose work makes a huge difference to individual lives and communities but often goes unseen.
“We all know somebody whose contribution deserves this recognition, so please get nominating!”
There are seven categories including, long term service, personal achievement, inspirational volunteers, new volunteers, commitment to volunteering, young volunteers and group volunteers.
The prestigious event will be held on Tuesday June 6 at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.
Volunteers invited to attend the awards event will be able to bring a guest to enjoy an evening of entertainment, food and celebration.
The closing date for nominations is Friday April 21 at 12 noon.
