Sports science..psychology… now Jack’s a singer-songwriter

AFTER gaining a First Class honours degree in Sports Science and a Masters in Psychology, a Lymm man has launched into an exciting career – as a singer-songwriter.
Music has played a big part in Jack Woodward’s life since his early days at primary school but he’s hoping it will become his living after he launches his first EP on November 25.
Two days later, at Gulliver’s, in Manchester’s North Quarter, he will play his launch gig with a full backing-group.
The 23-year-old said: “I’ve always wanted to make music my career and now I’m hoping to do just that. It’s an exciting time and I am really looking forward to it.”
Early musical promise came when Jack played Buddy Holly in a production at Ravenbrook Primary School, Lymm.  Later, at Lymm High School, he took the title role in a production of “Oliver” and also appeared in the school’s production of “Sweeny Todd”.
Music was still there, in the background, as he studied sports science at Leeds Metropolitan University and came more to the fore when he studied psychology at Glasgow.
Since finishing there last summer he has been playing gigs around the North West as a singer-guitarist – even playing a couple of times in Lymm. He admits to being influenced by Bruce Springsteen and his favourite band, The Killers.
But his ambition is to write and perform his own original music – and the four songs on his EP are all his own work.
He composes mainly on piano, but sings to the guitar.
The EP will be available to download and also, hopefully, also from record stores.
Anyone who wants to reach Jack and his music can do so on his new website, www.jackwoodwardmusic.com
