M6 lane closure and roadworks cause traffic chaos

A Lane closure on the M6 combined with the closure of Cantilever high level bridge for roadworks has caused traffic chaos in and around Warrington today.

The lane closure southbound between junction 21A at Croft and junction 20 at Lymm brought traffic to a standstill.

Together with the closure of Cantilever high level bridge for road works on Station Road, Latchford, it also caused heavy traffic throughout Warrington with queues in Stockton Heath, Chester Road and Wilderspool causeway.

At one stage Stockton Heath village centre was gridlocked.

  1. Same last Friday afternoon, the traffic was a nightmare and virtually gridlocked. It took us well over an hour to get from Kingsway lights to Stockton Heath, a journey which usually takes ten minutes max.
