TRAVELLERS who ignored a council notice to leave park land off Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington, have now vacated the site – with a new group arriving on Victoria Park.
The vehicles left the park area off Old River Road and Manx Road last night but now at least seven vehicles have arrived at Victoria Park off nearby Knutsford Road.
Warrington Borough Council had served a notice asking the travellers to vacate the land of Wilderspool Causeway within 24 hours after establishing there were no welfare issues last week.
The travellers arrived on July 6th staying a total of 10 days.
Warrington Borough Council had been due to seek a court order to move them off the land tomorrow, Monday.
The group which has parked on the car park at Victoria Park is said to be a new group.

It’s a never ending battle with them but clearly something keeps drawing them all here time and time again….the promise of a £2 million transit site maybe ???
Re the ones who have finally left the field on River Road off Wilderspool…they should be tracked down and made to PAY to put the churned field and pedestrian area grass verges back to how they were before THEY decided it was acceptable to drive over them from the main road time an time again. I’ll upload some photo’s to the FORUM shortly.
If we had done that we’d have been arrested and charged with dangerous and unlawful driving across a pedestrian only area !!
They’d moved onto the car park at Victoria Park in time to watch the start of the parkrun at 9am, yesterday Saturday morning. If you want a good roofing deal then they can sort one out for you or so the advertisements read on the side of at least three of their white vans.
I quite like my roof as it is thanks Geoff and I’m not so stupid that I would use their services…..but no doubt many people will especially as they look legit in their posh signed up vans.
Three different groups in a week. I wonder if the two remaining groups and those who follow will now also ignore their 24hr notices to leave seeing as though the Wilderspool ones simply got away with it and stayed for 10 days. So annoying especially for nearby residents who must have been on pins all the time 🙁
Is the meeting to discuss organising a meeting to discuss this problem still in the planning stage?
