Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip promises wild night in Warrington

MIK Artistik’s Ego Trip, who wowed last year’s Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival audience, are returning to the town for a memorable show at Pyramid arts centre.

The trio are an edgy, funny, poetic unit who play rock and roll stand up: they are Glastonbury regulars having performed multiple shows at each of the last seven Worthy Farm festivals and are due to perform again this year when the legendary event starts on Thursday 22 June.

Chaos ensues whenever the trio take to the stage, as they will at Pyramid on Saturday 9 July – the only non-festival date in their summer schedule – with Mik tumbling around, spluttering lyrics, tripping over leads and throwing straws around.

He also likes to spout random observations and share his unusual train of thought with the audience.

Guitarist Jonny Flockton and Benson Walker on bass dutifully hold fort, trying to rein Mik in while creating a backdrop which is equal parts joyous, funky, elegant and rocky: every show is different.

Mik Artistik’s Ego Trip have also appeared on Channel 4’s Random Acts, had slots at Bath Comedy Fest, and Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe Festivals, as well as supporting the legendary Chas & Dave at their O2 Academy show in Leeds.

Their performances have prompted glowing reviews and flattering descriptions including “sensational”, “genius” and “brilliant” from the likes of performance poet John Cooper Clarke: comedian Johnny Vegas once called Mik “the mad professor of comedy”.

And the trio went down a storm at last year’s Warrington Contemporary Arts Festival gaining commendation from Culture Warrington as a “strange and wonderful beast of a band”.

Tickets for this rare treat are on sale now.
