STUDENTS from Appleton College and members of Stockton Heath Parish Council will join forces tomorrow (Wednesday) to carry out a “Clean for the Queen” event in the village centre.
About 30 students are expected to be involved in the event which will involve litter picking, sweeping up cigarette ends and clean cast iron planter.
Staff from the college, parish councillors, the parish ranger  and Warrington Borough Council’s street services team will also be involved.
Parish council clerk Jo Cope said the initial approach came from college students looking for ways to get involved with community projects.
The parish council helped to organise the event in conjunction with officers from the borough council.
Pupils from Stockton Heath Primary School and St Thomas’ CE Primary School had designed posters to be displayed in The Forge shopping centre to raise awareness of the event and to encourage traders, residents and visitors to keep the area clean.
All entrants would receive a commemorative Queen’s 90th Birthday medal for taking part.  The top three will receive vouchers from local traders.
