A BUSINESS student from Warrington Collegiate is one step closer to achieving her career ambitions after she did “the best thing” she could do by choosing to study at the College.

Magdalena Labuda is one of six HND (Higher National Diploma) Business and Management students to be offered a third year top up degree at the Universities of their choice.

The group – which also includes Justin Alionye, Vadim Arbekov, Jessica Dixon, Manjot Singh and Annabelle Viar – will go on to study on a range of courses at universities including Salford, Chester, London and Manchester Metropolitan.

Magdalena has been offered a place at the University of Salford to study Human Resources – a course she had applied for before studying at Warrington Collegiate.

She said: “I’m really happy because I tried to get on the course two years ago but I was unsuccessful. Now, after completing my HND in Business and Management at Warrington Collegiate, I’ve been offered a place – it’s the best thing I could have done.”

Top-up degrees are for students who have successfully completed a HND or Foundation Degree and want to study further and progress onto the final year of an Honours degree programme.

Justin, who works full time for the NHS alongside his studies, has been offered a place at the University of Chester to study International Business, as well as a place on Manchester Metropolitan University’s Business and Economics course.

Vadim has been offered a place at both the University of Chester and Manchester Metropolitan University to study International Business.

Jessica has been offered a place at the University of Chester to study Business Management, Manjot has been offered a place to study International Business at either London or Chester, and Annabelle will study at either Chester or Manchester.

Their tutor Debbie Rowlett, Senior Lecturer in HE, Access, Professional, TU and Accountancy, said she is incredibly proud of the group and wishes them every success, adding: “I want to congratulate them on receiving such fantastic news after they have worked so hard.”
