Another false start for Town cup defence

WARRINGTON Town must wait yet again to start their defence of the Doodson Sport Cup after their tie at Ramsbottom United was called off.

For the third successive Tuesday, an afternoon pitch inspection deemed the waterlogged pitch at Ramsbottom’s Riverside Stadium unplayable.

Shaun Reid’s men are out to defend the trophy that they won last season, defeating Farsley on penalties at Stockport’s Edgeley Park.

The two teams will try again next Tuesday, December 1st.

The winner of the re-arranged match will earn a home tie against Marine in the second round, to be played on January 5th.

It means Warrington Town’s next match comes against National League North title chasers AFC Fylde in the FA Trophy third qualifying round on Saturday at Cantilever Park (3pm).
