Budget club to start at Orford Jubilee Hub

A BUDGET boosting club to help people find a new job and manage their finances is being launched at Orford Jubilee Hub library.

The free club, run by Warrington Council’s Central Neighbourhood Team, will start on Tuesday October 6 and run every Tuesday between 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

This will be the fifth budget boosting club to be set up in central Warrington, with others already running at Orford Community Hub and at community centres in  Fearnhead, Whitecross and Westy.

The clubs are free to join and are aimed at people who are struggling to get a job or struggling to manage on their budget.

They can help you get job ready by supporting you to write a CV, register with job agencies, access job sites and search for job opportunities.

A family income and employment officer offers practical advice to help you boost your household income by reviewing your current circumstances and recommending some positive steps you can take to help you generate additional funds.

This includes, for example, checking if you are entitled to any benefits, changing to a lower cost energy provider, joining a credit union and providing tips on different ways of shopping and cooking to help you make savings.

The clubs offer group, family or one-to-one sessions to people aged 18 and over, in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture, said: “All our budget boosting clubs are well attended and numbers continue to grow. Orford Jubilee Hub Library is an ideal location for the new club, as we can work with clients while other family members are using the library and other services there.”

You can be referred to a club via the job centre, or via Warrington Disability Partnership, Warrington Voluntary Action or Golden Gates Housing Trust, or you can refer yourself.
