HUNDREDS of students and parents turned out to Future Tech Studio’s September Open Evening at Warrington Collegiate.

They discovered the opportunities available in Design Engineering, IT & Telecommunication and Business & Finance at the school.

Current students demonstrated their work, escorted visitors on tours and talked about their student experience, including work placements.

Matthew Unsworth, aged 17 studying IT and Telecommunications, moved some of the audience to tears as he passionately spoke about the transformation the school has produced both personally and professionally in just one year.

Matthew is planning to apply for a higher level apprenticeship after completing his studies at Future Tech Studio in July.

He said: “I was overwhelmed by the audience response to my presentation. I just spoke about my time at Future Tech Studio and how the range of work experience and close industry links has fully equipped me to go into industry straight after the course.

“Many people stayed after the presentation and we talked about the uniqueness of Future Tech Studio and the difference it can make to a student in terms of preparation for employment and higher education.”

Armed with maps and assistance from Student Ambassadors, visitors set off to explore the exciting displays, demonstrations and workshops on offer as well as talking to tutors and industry specialists who were on hand to talk about their close links with Future Tech Studio.

Gail Stonier, Principal of Future Tech Studio says, “It was a fantastic night, our students have enthused visitors, who have seen for themselves the difference we can make to a student’s life and job prospects at Future Tech Studio. Studying with us is just the start if a journey to a successful career for our students. “
