House fire caused by tortoise heat lamp?

FOUR fire engines – including an aerial appliance from Chester – were involved in tackling a house fire at Warrington believed to have been caused by a tortoise heat lamp.
The blaze was in a bedroom at a detached house in Shepperton Close, Appleton shortly before 7pm last night.
Fire crews, who were at the scene for two hours, wore breathing apparatus and use a hose reel jet and a covering jet to extinguish the fire.
On arrival, crews found smoke issuing from the property and more resources were requested.
Firefighters uses a short extension ladder to access the loft and athermal imaging camera was used to check for fire spread.
The fire is believed to have been started by a heat lamp used for a pet tortoise. A smoke alarm activated to raise the alarm.
No-one was hurt.
In a separate incident, fire crews from Warrington used a hose reel jet to cool overheated brakes on a car in Bold Lane, Collins Green.
