A YOUNG woman shed her locks for charity as the final curtain came down on the most successful VPX event of all time at Victoria Park, Warrington.
Kerrie-Ann, aged 28, from Kingsway South, Warrington, who works at the local Co-op near Victoria Park, raised over £500 from the sponsored head shave at the event where she had been helping out as a volunteer.
She raised the money for Macmillan as a thank you to nurses who had cared for family members going through cancer.
It wasn’t the only act of kindness on the day, which despite over cast skies and a few showers, attracted another 1,100 youngsters to enjoy free activities, organised by local PCSO Tony Spruce and his former colleague Tom Reid and Paul Flannery from LiveWire.
After hearing how eight-year-old Rhys Brindley had lost a rugby ball signed by Wolves’ players Daryl Clark and Gary Wheeler at an earlier event, Tony, organised for a replacement through the Wolves Foundation – signed by the whole team!
The four VPX events throughout August saw more than 5,100 youngsters enjoying the free event – making it the most successful of all time.
