Creative art – inspired by walking to school!

PUPILS from four Warrington primary schools created fantastic works of art – inspired by their journey walking to school.
Warrington Borough Council invited the schools to create works of art from materials the pupils chose themselves to celebrate “Walk to School Week” and World Environment Day.
Youngsters from Great Sankey Primary, Winwick Primary, St Vincents Primary and St Phillips Primary took part in the project and each school received a scooter stand and a £100 voucher from Ikea, where the artworks were put on display.
Cllr Hans Mundry, the borough council’s executive member for highways, transport and public realm, said: “It is great to see young people get involved in creating art to express their thoughts about walking to school and the benefits it can bring to the environment.
“It is important to get children off to a healthy start, so everyday activities like walking to school can help create healthy lifestyles that can last a lifetime.
“The artwork is very creative. I hope it inspires others to walk to school and get involved with local environmental projects.”
