How to get to grips with new technology

PEOPLE struggling to get to grips with new technology can get help at free sessions organised by Warrington Borough Council – whether it be laptop, smart phone or tablet.
Free sessions will be held every Thursday from June 5 to support people to get online and learn basic IT skills with the help of a “digital champion”.
The digital champions are a group of skilled volunteers who can help others get started online by sharing their knowledge of the internet. Between 10am and 12 noon they will be holding drop-in sessions at St Werburgh’s Community Hub, Boswell Avenue, Wilderspool.
They can help with the basics including help with searching for information, setting up email addresses, adding attachments, uploading photos, browsing the internet and word processing.
Cllr Hitesh Patel (pictured), the council’s lead member for personnel and communications said:  “The digital champions have been fully trained to help with basic online needs on a one-to-one basis. This means that people can learn at their own pace, allowing them to ask any questions they have along the way.
“However small your query, whether you need help with buying groceries online, or getting in touch with relatives through social media, the digital champions can help.”
