£500 raised for community groups

A TOTAL of £580.76 was raised for the Birchwood Endowment Fund as a result of a special Halloween event by Avnet Technology Solutions in October.
A raffle and cake bake raised £126.86, Avnet donated £100 and with Gift Aid and match funding, the grant total of £580.76 was raised.
Launched earlier this year by Birchwood Park, The Birchwood Partnership, and Warrington Council for Voluntary Service, the Birchwood Endowment Fund is part of Grassroots Grants, a scheme that provides help direct to community groups in the Birchwood area. Local groups with annual incomes below £30,000 can apply for a grant of £250 to £5000 in a straightforward and easy way.
Every £1 donated is match funded by the government, and is eligible for Gift Aid – so £1 is worth £2.56 to the Birchwood Community!
Activities on the night included a pumpkin carving competition, fancy dress, office decorations, cake baking and the raffle.
A number of local firms provided raffle prizes.
