Investigation ongoing as one person rescued following fire outside block of flats

AN investigation is ongoing following a fire outside a block of flats in the Poplars and Hulme area of Warrington during the early hours of this morning.

At around 3.45am three fire crews from Warrington, Birchwood and Penketh attended reports of a fire at a block of flats on Bexhill Avenue in the Poplars and Hulme area of town.
On arrival at the scene crews found that a bin well alight near to the communal entrance to a two storey block of flats.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire using water.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, entered the building and one person was rescued from the building and passed to the care of paramedics.
There were no reports of any serious injuries.
Enquiries into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Crews were detained at the scene for around two hours 30 minutes.
