Wildflower meadow project launched by council

RESIDENTS of Warrington are being encouraged to get involved in their local community by scattering seeds to generate wild flower meadows across the borough.
Wild flowers not only look beautiful, but they are a staple to bees and other pollinators, helping to attract them to the area. They also serve as a food source and shelter for many species of wildlife, including birds and insects.
The borough council initiative will welcome the spring, help make the town look more beautiful and encourage animals and beneficial insects to the area.
Council cabinet member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins said: “We want as many people to get involved as possible and to keep us updated on your progress by sending in photos of your growing wildflower gardens.”
Packs of wild flower seeds will be available in all 17 council community centres from Tuesday .
Seed packs are completely free. Residents will be given advice on how, when and where to plant them.
Once seeds are gone – they’re gone! Make sure you visit your local community centre if you want to get involved.
