POLICE have uncovered a cannabis factory at a house in Warrington.
Officers from Warrington South Neighbourhood Policing Unit made the discovery after they executed a warrant at a
property in Thelwall Lane, Latchford, on Thursday afternoon.
In an upstairs room they found more than 60 mature cannabis plants.
The plants – and the equipment used to grow these plants – were seized and taken away for forensic examinations.
A 41-year-old man, from Warrington, was arrested at the scene. He helped police with their enquiries throughout the day and later received a caution for cultivating cannabis.
PC Richard Hughes said: “We executed the warrant as a result of intelligence which was passed onto us by a member of the public.
“This sort of information is vital and we will continue to work closely with the community to gather and act upon any further intelligence in relation to drugs in the area.”
The warrant is part of ongoing efforts to tackle the issue of drugs in the local community.
It is one of a number of warrants that have been executed in the Warrington South area over the past few months.
PC Hughes added: “We hope the actions of local officers show how committed we are to tackling the issue of drug use and supply in the local community.
“We hope that it serves as a warning to others that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated and that we will not hesitate to take positive action wherever and whenever necessary.
“We hope this also reassures the local community that we are listening to what they are saying. We would urge anyone with any information about drug use and supply to contact us immediately.”
