Mum issues warning after daughter pushed from climbing frame

A concerned mum has issued a warning to parents after her four-year-old daughter suffered a fractured arm after being pushed from a climbing frame in a play area at Warrington’s Golden Square Shopping Centre.

Her five-year-old son was also “pinned down” by two older boys in the play area which has been set up in the Old Fish market area of the shopping centre during the school holidays.

Stacey took her children Riley aged 5 and Shelby aged 4, to play in at Golden Square on the new free play area. Older children were using the facility unsupervised.

“Within 30 minute my daughter had been pushed off a high climbing frame and ended up in A&E with a large fracture running across her Funny Bone!

“Also my son was pinned down by two older boys and one of them kicked him in his face!

“Please be careful if you decide to let your children play there!!! I will NEVER let them play there again!” added Stacey.

She said her daughter had been left in a lot of pain and unable to move.

“Riley has been such a lovely Big Brother! Helping Shelby with anything she wants! It’s nice to see how loving they are to each other! Just wish Shelby could move a little, strange seeing her so
helpless!” added Stacey, who posted a warning to other parents on social media.

Golden Square’s Centre Director Ian Cox said: “”We are currently looking into the reported incident and would like to reassure customers that we are reviewing the use of the park to ensure that all children are playing safely under the supervision of parents and guardians and not left alone.

“We have been in direct contact with Stacey to offer our apologies following the incident and would like to wish her little girl a very speedy recovery!”

  1. We’ve experienced this type of behaviour too, older kids bullying and harassing some of the younger children on the equipment, including our son. We had to intervene. Typically, it seems to have become the usual dumping ground for so called parents, most of them thinking it’s OK to smoke just beyond the fence.
