THREE councillors held a “street surgery” to let people know what they are doing.
Councillors Jo Crotty, Celia Jordan and Sue Dodd set up stall in Stockton Heath to help put over their message.
Coun Crotty – who is also Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary candidate for Warrington South, said: “It’s very important to be available to local people. They should not have to come and find their local politicians in some stuffy office if they have a problem that they need help with.
“Instead it makes more sense to go to them. That’s exactly what we were doing here. We want to get out and about and listen to residents where they are in shopping centres and neighbourhoods around Warrington South.”
Issues raised included traffic calming measures, pavement problems and how the Government had failed the people of Warrington.
Coun Crotty said: “Voters are fed up with Labour in Warrington South. They are fed up with seeing the cost of living rising all the time. They know that the Liberal Democrats have been the challengers to Labour across town for years now while the Conservatives are stuck in a poor third place on the council.
Voters are saying they will be backing the Liberal Democrats next time to send Gordon Brown a message.”
The next surgery will be held at Honiton Square, Penketh on Saturday, August 30 at 11am.
