A MAJOR survey is being carried out in a bid to wipe out health inequalities in Warrington.
Borough council chiefs are working with Warrington Primary Care Trust on the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).
The aim is to
provide health care that caters for residents’ specific needs.
The first phase of the JSNA has presented council officers and PCT workers with information that highlights inequalities in the current service and where improvement is needed the most.
Phase two will involve more detailed projections and analysis to inform action planning.
This could eventually see council officers, PCT workers and other agencies working closer in the future.
The overall focus is on health in the local community, which will lead to long and medium term strategies being put in place to hopefully improve the overall health of residents.
Coun Celia Jordan, the council’s executive member for health and skills improvement, said: “The JSNA is an important way to assess the future needs of local residents in Warrington. The initial findings have given us an insight into the current health inequalities in the area.
“The next phase is important in helping us assess what services we will need to provide, in cooperation with the PCT, to benefit local residents in improving their health and care needs.”
