Major facelift for leisure centre

0

LYMM Leisure Centre is to undergo a major refurbishment – thanks to grant aid from Sport England and with help from Lymm Swimming Club.
The fitness suite is being extended and the changing rooms – criticised in the past for sub-standard conditions – are to be upgraded.
A climbing wall is being added to the facility and the whole centre, under new manager Adam Harris, will be up to Sport England standards.
Work will start next week but the centre will remain open and every effort is being made to minimise inconvenience to users.
Coun Sheila Woodyatt, a governor at Lymm High School, said: “This is very good news for users of the facility because it is going to mean much higher standards.
“People should be reminded that the leisure centre is not a Warrington Borough Council facility – while it is available to the whole community it belongs to the school.”
A later phase of the improvement will include replacement of the popular all-weather sports pitch.
