Pub awning plan rejected

PLANNERS have thrown out an application for permission to install an awning outside a historic Warrington town centre pub.
The awning at the Blue Bell pub in Horsemarket Street would have provided shelter for the existing outside seating area. Four heaters and two lights were included in the scheme.
But planning bosses decided the scheme was not in character with the Grade 2 listed pub.
Plans for a similar awning and pavement café seating at Mcdonalds in Bridge Street – also a listed building – have been approved however.
