RUGBY League legends were among those who helped raise £7,500 at a charity event at Warrington Golf Club.
Money raised by the Golf Day will go to The Rugby League Foundation which helps young people throughout the country to start playing the game.
Rugby legends from Lancashire, Yorkshire and Wales, together with Warrington Wolves star Lee Briers took part in the day together with commercial partners.
Winners were the Cheshire Golf Union Presidents’ Team which included former St Helens star Peter Harvey and the President of Cheshire Golf Union Ted Leather of Warrington. They scored 91 points in the 18-hole Stableford competition.
The best legend was former Leeds prop, previously known as the “Pocket Battleship,” Steve Pitchford who scored 35 points.
Captain of Warrington Golf Club Nev Morrall, a former BARLA Tour manager to Australia and New Zealand in 1992, said: “The weather was kind and it was a memorable day. Everyone who played loved the Warrington course, and to raise such a huge amount of money was a tremendous achievement.”
Organiser for the RLF Stephen Ball said: “It was a truly memorable rugby league occasion. There were stars from yesteryear and people involved in the game currently.
“I am sure everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the money will be used to help promote the game at grass root levels. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who made the day so successful.”
Also in attendance were Rugby League commentators Eddie Hemmings and Mike Stephenson from Sky Sports.
