Homelessness talk at the Town Hall

THE COUNCIL is to host a meeting of the Warrington Homelessness Commission, during which expert witnesses will present evidence on a range of topics related to homelessness.
The meeting will be held in public at the Town Hall so that residents can attend.
Commission members will hear witnesses including:

  • Tommy Allman, a rough sleeper for twenty years.
  • Manchester-based independent housing consultant Neil Morland.
  • Paul Connery from charity Homeless Link.
  • Anne Doyle, a national homelessness practitioner at the Department for Communities and Local Government.
  • Danielle McCann and Emma Perris from Verve Place, which offers accommodation within a safe environment for young people who are homeless, have a housing problem or are currently living in insecure accommodation or an unsafe environment.

The session will be chaired by the Homelessness Commission’s independent chair Nick Atkin.
The Warrington Homelessness Commission, which was launched in October, is scheduled to ake four months to conduct its work and its final report is expected to be published in February 2014. Warrington Borough Council anticipates that a cross-sector action plan for change will be produced in order to improve how Warrington tackles the issue.
