PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a pair of semi-detached houses on land off Capesthorne Road, Orford and say the development will represent a “planning gain.”
Members of the borough council’s planning committee visited the site before reaching their decision to assess the concerns of nearby residents about access to their property.
They were told the site currently consisted of a vehicle access road linking Capesthorne Road with pedestrian accesses to properties in Fairbrother Crescent and Tyne Close.
There were two unattractive, dilapidated metal garages on the site which were highly visible from Capesthorne Road.
Objectors said poor access would obstruct vehicle movements to existing parking spaces and closure of the rear access would create a dead end which could lead to anti-social behaviour.
But planning officers said the development would be small-scale and would result in the removal of the two old garages which were an environmental problem. There would be no encroachment on to existing urban green space and the pedestrian link between Fairbrother Crescent and Capesthorne Road would be retained.
