THIRTY nearby residents have lodged objections to a plan to erect a stable block on land to the north of Booths Lane, Lymm.
Objections have also come from Lymm Parish Council and local borough councillors Sheila Woodyatt and Ian Marks.
Planning officers have recommended the scheme be approved – but members of the borough council’s development management committee have decided to visit the site before reaching a decision.
Objections are based on various grounds, including overdevelopment, harm to the Green Belt, sub-standard access, traffic, etc.
The plan involves an L-shaped timber stable block, with five loose boxes. Access would be to Booths Lane and an internal track would be provided between the access and the building. According to the applicant, the horses to be accommodated would be Connemara ponies – smaller than most breeds of horses but class as large ponies.
The stables would be for private use only by the applicant and his family.
A storage barn, originally included in the proposals, has been omitted.
Residents have formed an action group which has engaged a barrister to fight the plans.
