WARRINGTON Wolves ended Hull KR’s reign as Super League champions to move themselves within 80 minutes of a first Grand Final since 2018.
Sam Burgess’ side pulled clear in the second half to eventually win 35-12 after a red card for former Wolves centre Peta Hiku to set up a trip to Headingley to face Leeds and end Willie Peters’ time in charge of the Robins in disappointment.
Ben Currie got the scoring underway on four minutes and two Ewan Irwin goals put them 8-0 to the good.
Although Hull KR dragged themselves back in to things a few minutes before half-time through Joe Burgess, Matty Ashton hit straight back to ensure the home side led 12-6.
Hiku saw red for punching George Williams barely two minutes in to the second half and that made the task too hard for Hull KR.
Ashton grabbed his second before Dean Hadley kept the visitors in it at 16-12.
But when Ashton pierced through the middle on half way, using an offside defender as a decoy, to race home under the posts Warrington pulled away.
A stunning finish by Albert Hopoate in the right corner on 64 minutes put the result beyond doubt at 26-12, and Williams added a drop goal.
There was even time for Toby King to sign off on his final Halliwell Jones Stadium appearance for Warrington with a late try to round off the job.
