Free blood pressure checks will be available across Warrington during Know Your Numbers Week, taking place from 7 to 13 September, making it easier for residents to access a quick and simple health check close to home.
Know Your Numbers Week takes place every September and aims to reach people who have high blood pressure but do not know it, so they can access the treatment and support they need to bring it under control. This year’s theme is ‘You know your age, do you know your numbers?’.
High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but it can increase the risk of serious health conditions, including heart attacks, strokes and kidney disease. It is estimated that one in three people in Warrington could be living with undiagnosed high blood pressure, meaning many residents may be living with high blood pressure without knowing it.
As part of Know Your Numbers Week, a range of free drop-in blood pressure check sessions will be available across the borough. No appointment is necessary.
These events aim to identify residents who may have undiagnosed high blood pressure, enabling them to access the support and treatment needed to manage their condition. This may include receiving advice, support and treatment tailored to individual needs, including medication where appropriate and support to make changes that can help manage blood pressure.

Residents can also buy a range of low-cost blood pressure monitors, with prices starting from around £20 at pharmacies and online retailers, allowing them to monitor their blood pressure at home.
Blood pressure checks are available at most pharmacies and through NHS Health Checks at GP surgeries for eligible adults aged 40 to 74.
Cllr Tony Higgins, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and social care, said: “High blood pressure often has no symptoms, which is why making blood pressure checks easy and accessible is so important.
“Know Your Numbers Week is an opportunity for residents to access a free check in their local community and find out whether any additional support might be helpful. We want everyone in Warrington to have the opportunity to understand their blood pressure and access the care they need.
“Whether you are 20 or 80 years old, you could be living with undiagnosed high blood pressure, so please take the opportunity to get checked. A simple test could make a significant difference to your health and wellbeing.”
