TWO Warrington friends are today (Saturday) hoping to complete the ride of a lifetime cycling 600 miles from John O’Groats to Warrington Fire Station to raise money for The Skyla Project – a charity dedicated to helping fire crews save the lives of animals during emergencies.

Steven Leathers and Mike Dennett started their “Two Idiots One Kingdom” challenge on July 9 and are aiming to make it back to Warrington by 12:30 pm today, Saturday, July 18.
Covering 600 miles, on their JustGiving page, they describe themselves as “two ordinary lads taking on an extraordinary challenge.”
The duo are raising money for a good cause.
Nic Brennan founded the Skyla Project in memory of his two friends, Kieran Naylor and Rebecca Foster, who tragically lost their lives, alongside their beloved pets Skye and Nyla, in a house fire in Daresbury in December 2022.
The project aims to equip every fire engine across the northwest with life-saving equipment and specialist training to help rescue small animals in fires.
Ste and Mike, who are known as ‘Two Idiots One Kingdom’ online, held a bucket collection at the Halliwell Jones stadium to kickstart their fundraiser, where they collected a total of £444.21.
The fundraiser has already reached more than £2,700.
For the challenge, the boys hired a camper van which will be driven by their friend.
The camper van, acquired with help from their sponsors Budworth Mechanical Ltd, has been transporting everything they need, and provided them with a place to sleep during their challenge.
