More than 70 North West employees from Cadent, the gas distribution network for the region, took part in a half-marathon through the Chorley countryside to raise money for Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT).
Based near Warrington, CAFT provides free day trips, seasonal activities and residential breaks for thousands of children across the North West whose lives are affected by disability, illness or social disadvantage. Comedian Jason Manford was confirmed as its President in February.
CAFT has been chosen as Cadent North West’s Community Fund charity, nominated and voted for by its colleagues to receive support through fundraising and volunteering between April 2026 and March 2028.
The charity has already received an initial £10,000 donation from the Cadent Foundation, with a further £10,000 top-up planned for 2027, in addition to funds raised by its colleagues.
This funding comes from the Cadent Foundation Community Fund, which will distribute £120,000 across six charities within Cadent’s regional footprint over a two-year period.
In just the first three months, colleagues have raised £4,500. The latest fundraising effort, ‘The Big Charity Walk’, saw participants complete the second annual half-marathon across the Chorley hills, including Rivington Pike.
A total of 70 Cadent colleagues from the North West took part in the event on Friday 19 June, raising money from fellow colleagues, friends and family.
