Mayor’s Charity Night raises £1,088 for local charities

A successful Mayor’s Charity Night hosted by Chennai Indian Restaurant brought the community together and raised an impressive £1,088 for the Mayor of Warrington’s four chosen charities.

The event, organised in support of the charities selected by the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Mo Hussain, will benefit Warrington Youth Zone, Warrington Disability Partnership, St. Rocco’s Hospice and Room at the Inn.
Guests enjoyed a mouthwatering meal at the event for just £20 per ticket, with £10 from every ticket generously donated by the restaurant to support the Mayor’s chosen charities.
The evening was filled with community spirit, fundraising and celebration, while recognising the Mayor’s dedication throughout his year in office.
Representatives from Warrington Disability Partnership, including Caroline Thompson and St Rocco’s CEO Sonia Currey, praised Cllr Mo Hussain for what they described as a “fantastic year” and thanked him for the continued support he has provided to local organisations and residents across Warrington.

Another guest, retired police officer Chris Upham, also paid tribute to the Mayor, saying: “Me and the Mayor might not share the same politics or Religion , but we get on like a house on fire. Cllr Mo Hussain has been absolutely amazing and is the most visible Mayor I have ever met ,and I’ve met a few in my time. Mo definitely is a people’s Mayor.”
Local singer Yvonne Stewart entertained guests throughout the evening with her beautiful singing, helping create a warm and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone attending.
Warrington Radio representative Andy Green also played an important role in the evening by making announcements and helping to run the raffle.
Shah Alam, manager of Chennai Dosa, thanked everyone who attended and supported the evening.
He said: “We are very pleased to see funds raised for local charities and grateful to everyone who came along and supported the event.”
Mayor Cllr Mo Hussain also thanked all those who supported his mayoral year and the fundraising efforts for his chosen charities. Special recognition was given to Jill Dance, who raised more than £2,000 through an incredible 24-hour litter pick challenge.
The Mayor expressed his gratitude to everyone involved for their generosity, dedication and commitment to supporting local charities and making a positive difference across Warrington.
