A PLAN for two six storey buildings, comprising 240 affordable apartments in Bank Street, Warrington is set to come before the borough council’s development management committee next week.

The scheme involves the site of the former DW Sports building. Off Mersey Street, which is currentlt standing empty.
Planning officers are recommending the committee delegate the scheme to the development manager to conditionally grant permission for the scheme, subject to a Section 106 legal obligation.
If the legal agreement remains unsigned after six months, the development manager will be given authority to refuse the applications.
Officers say the principle of development is acceptable.

The plan is for a communal amenity space in the centre of the site, with the apartment blocks wrapping around the amenity space.
A central courtyard feature would be shared between all residents of the ssite.
The development includes 162 one-bedroom apartments and 78 two bedroom units.
There would be no vehicular parking due to the town centre location of the development, but cycle parking would be provided.
Cllr John Roddy has objected to the scheme on the basis that Warrington Hospital cannot cope with the increased population the development would attract.
He suggests the scheme be put on hold until the hospital can improve waiting and treatment times.
