Volunteers needed to keep Padgate & Woolston Walking Day tradition alive

ONE of Warrington’s best-loved community traditions, the Padgate & Woolston Walking Day, will return on Saturday, 20th June, bringing local people together for a day of celebration, heritage, and community spirit.

The annual parade, supported by Poulton-with-Fearnhead Parish Council, sees schools, churches, and community groups take to the streets in a colourful procession that has been part of the area’s identity for generations.
But organisers say the event relies heavily on volunteers and are now calling for local residents to step forward and help.
Volunteer marshals (18+) are urgently needed to support the safe running of the parade, helping with route management and ensuring participants and spectators are looked after throughout the day.

A marshal briefing session will take place on:
Saturday 9th May at 10:30 am
Station House, Station Road
No experience is required, and full guidance will be provided.

An event organiser said:“Walking Day is a huge part of our community. It’s something people look forward to every year, but it simply can’t happen safely without volunteers. If you can give a bit of your time, you’ll be helping keep this tradition going.”
Residents are encouraged to get involved—whether by volunteering, taking part, or coming along to support on the day.
