DECKING supplier Ultra Decking, with premises in Woolston, Warrington, is being recognised for its long-standing support of children’s charity WellChild, having helped transform outdoor spaces for more than 1,000 children with complex medical needs across the UK.

Through WellChild’s Helping Hands programme, teams of volunteers work with families caring for seriously ill children to adapt homes and gardens, creating safe and accessible spaces where children can play, relax and spend time outdoors.
Ultra Decking’s composite decking has played a key role in many of these projects. Its durable, low-maintenance boards create smooth, level surfaces that are ideal for gardens used by wheelchair users and children with mobility challenges.
Since the partnership began, Ultradecking has supported more than 50 Helping Hands projects, donating over 1,500 decking boards and helping to improve outdoor spaces for over 1,000 children and their families.
Kieran Cullen, Helping Hands Programme Manager at WellChild, said:“Ultra Decking’s support over the past few years has been invaluable. Without their generosity, many of the life-changing garden transformations we deliver through Helping Hands would have become prohibitively expensive. Their composite decking is ideal for the families we support, creating safe and accessible outdoor spaces where children who rely on wheelchairs can enjoy their gardens like never before. This partnership is a fantastic example of the real impact a company can make.”
Allan Jeffrey, CEO & Managing Director at Ultra Decking, said: “WellChild’s ‘Helping Hands’ projects align perfectly with our own expertise. Many of the families they support are unable to use their gardens due to accessibility issues or the high maintenance required. By supporting WellChild, we are helping to create low-maintenance, splinter-free, and wheelchair-friendly sanctuaries that allow children with complex medical needs to play and thrive safely at home. We believe every child deserves a garden that is a place of joy rather than a barrier, and we are proud to contribute to a charity that makes that possible.”
WellChild’s Helping Hands programme has been supporting families since 2007, partnering with businesses and volunteers across the UK to carry out practical home and garden improvements for children with serious health needs.
