AGE UK Mid Mersey – which covers the Warrington area -has launched ‘My Time’, a Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) programme for individuals with mild/moderate dementia or mild cognitive impairment.

‘My Time’ is a 12-week group programme, held once a week and lasting four hours (from 10.00- 2.00pm).

Group sessions are led by trained MCST facilitators and use a mix of activities including word games, quizzes, puzzles, gentle movement, memory sharing, arts and crafts and basic lunch cooking.  And all this takes place in a warm, social setting.

The sessions help maintain memory, thinking and social engagement.  I

Age UK  run a parallel Carers’ Group in the same venue as the ‘My Time’ group programme.  It starts at the same time, 10.00am, and runs for 1-1.5hours led by an experienced Living Well Advisers and  provides information, advice, connection with local organisations and a chance to talk to others giving similar care and support.

The first ‘My Time’ programme in Warrington is now running at Whitecross Community Centre and  future groups will be held at different venues making it easier for individuals and their ‘important ones’ to join a group closer to home.  The next group starts early October and will be held at The Daten Sports Club, Culcheth on a Tuesday, 10.00-2.00pm.

Anyone interested should contact the Age UK Mid Mersey MCST Team by telephone – 0300 003 1992 or e-mail – mcst@aukmm.org.uk

“‘My Time”’ is fully funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
