PHOTOGRAPHER Alan Pickering has retired after 46 years, moved back to his home town of Warrington – and is immediately staging an exhibition.
He has been working in Milton Keynes for some time, working for the likes of Sainsbury’s, Argos and Habitat.
But retirement doesn’t mean putting his feet up.
He said: “I still have the passion for photography as I had as a young boy when I started. “
His exhibition, “Hidden in Plain Sight” will be at The Gateway, in Sankey Street, from September 29 to October 13.
Alan said: “The images were taken within Warrington over a two-year period.
“They are all monochrome images; utilising both digital and film cameras, of varying formats.
“My aim was to show there is beauty to be found in the ordinary or mundane subject matter. There are several threads including water, shadows, last leaf and ‘closed’- a look at the demise of Bridge Street.”
