AFTER clocking up 50 years loyal service bus engineer Phil Russell has been presented with a gold watch – but has no plans to retire.

Warrington-born Phil was presented with a gold watch for 50 years of service by Warrington Own Buses MD Ben Wakerley.

When Phil started in 1973, the bus company was still using the original tram shed on Mersey Street for meal breaks and the Wilderspool depot they’ve just left, was quite new.

Phil, aged 68, and a former Bewsey Secondary Modern schoolboy, was given the honour of the groundbreaking dig for the new Dallam Lane depot.
