A WARRINGTON councillor has teamed up with police to tackle anti-social behaviour blighting the lives of people in his ward.

Cllr Rob Tynan, Conservative, Rixton and Woolston, took action after receiving numerous complaints from residents.
The area being affected is Hollins Green, near the Manchester Ship Canal.
Cllr Tynan said:: “For a number of years now this area in Hollins Green, where the old slag heap from Irlam Steel Works used to dominate the skyline, has gradually been taken over by nature after the slag heap was removed during the late Sixties.
“I can remember as a child back in the 70s fishing for sticklebacks frogs and newts in the many pools there, but recently the area has been plagued by fly-tipping and people racing 4 x 4s causing untold damage to wildlife and natural habitat.
“Large swathes of the area have been churned up by these old 4x4s obliterating some of the pools and damaging trees. Some of the vehicles that become irretrievable have been torched to hide identification. Some of the areas are littered with vehicle parts, removed I assume to reduce weight.”

Determined to tackle the issue, Cllr Tynan has had a meeting with local police and Warrington and Salford council representatives.
He said: “Now we’ve got the police and councils involved, hopefully we can sort this problem out which is also causing issues with local residents due to the noise produced from revving engines and the spotlights from the vehicles shining into properties”.
