PARTS of St Rocco’s Hospice have been given a makeover – thanks to volunteers from Golden Square Shopping Centre in Warrington.
Volunteers contributed more than 240 man hours to make the hospice shop brighter and more appealing to customers, in a bid to increase its sales.
Shopping centre staff took time out to help transform areas of the hospice to mark the launch of its charity partnership which aims to raise £125,000 for St Rocco’s by September next year.
As part of its International Community Day, more than 20 people from the centre’s senior management team, customer services and security teams took part in the project. They gave a thorough makeover to the gift shop, storeroom and other areas.
The volunteers spent time painting, decorating and remerchandising the hospice gift shop, and improved the storeroom to make it a clean and safe environment for volunteers.
Golden Square general manager David Allinson said: “The results we have achieved have been fantastic and we hope that this will now encourage visitors to the hospice to see the store in a different light.
“The day provided a valuable opportunity for teambuilding and achieved something really worthwhile for the community.”
Golden Square is working on a variety of events for the charity during the year to raise funds for a hospice outreach service. Anyone interested in donating should visit www.justgiving.com/Golden-Square-Shopping-Centre
