HEAVY rain again blighted cricket in the Warrington area – but the majority of matches were played thanks to the determined work of groundsmen.
Warrington travelled to Bowdon in the RSK Cheshire County League, where the home side batted first and amassed 204-2 – a challenging score in the wet conditions.
Skipper Jonathan Fletcher gave Warrington’s reply a promising start with a lively 28, but after that the batting fell away and the side were back in the pavilion for 115.
Warrington 2nd took on Oxton at walton League and hit 154, James Lewis hitting 72 and Shoaib Chattha 25. But the visitors reached their target with five wickets to spare, Chattha was the pick of the Warrington bowlers with 2-35.

Grappenhall were put in on a wet wicket when they played Macclesfield.
At 47-7 – 25 of them coming from Peter Barnes – Grappers looked in all kinds of trouble. Josh Hayes, 22 and Sam Guest, 19 offered some late resistance and got the score up to 89 but that was never going to be enou gh.
Even so, when Macclesfield were 38-5 there still seemed hope. But no more wickets fell and the visitors finished on 90-5. Lewis Porter was the pick of the bowlers with 2-12.
Grappenhall 2nd’s game was cancelled but on Sunday, the 3rd XI managed to make a start against Didsbury.
David Seed hit a superb 69 and Alex Parry 26 as Grappers hit 148-8 in 4 overs. Then the rains came and the match was abandoned.
In the UKFast Cheshire League, Lymm Oughtrington Park picked up a useful win at Bunbury where they batted first and totalled 171-8, Jake Hughes hitting a blistering 81, including four sixes and nine fours. Skipper Travis Scholes, 27 and Matthew Bradshaw, 23, had earlier given Lymm a solid start.
Bunbury were never in the hunt and were dismissed for 127, Scholes taking 4-22.
Lymm 2nd also enjoyed a good win, batting first at Mobberley and totalling 210-5. Astrayo Daw hammered an unbeaten 101, including 10 fours and three sixes, and Chris Oakes hit 53.
