Inglis debut nears as Austin set to miss Catalans clash

WARRINGTON Wolves coach Steve Price says Greg Inglis is in contention to make his debut in next week’s Super League clash with Hull KR.

The former Australia international is yet to have his first outing in the primrose and blue, and is not part of the travelling part heading to Perpignan to face Catalans this weekend.

Price said: “He’s actually been training really well. Each week is slightly different but he’s one week away from actually playing.

“There will be more psychological tests and understanding that his body is ready to go. He’s been fantastic at training and he’s certainly going to add value to our team when he comes.

“He’s a pretty happy-go-lucky type of guy when he trains and that’s what we want to see from Greg: being happy and smiling and actually enjoying it.

“I’m sure when the time arises he might have a few nerves like all great players do. But there’s no pressure or expectation from myself on Greg, I just want to see him happy and just get out there and enjoy his rugby.”

Meanwhile, stand-off Blake Austin is set to be a surprise absentee from the trip to Perpignan due to a paperwork mix-up.

There were reports that the Australian’s passport had expired, preventing him from boarding the flight to France.

The Wolves are already without Tom Lineham, serving the second of his three match ban.

The game takes place at Gilbert Brutus on Saturday at 6pm.

Wolves 21-man squad: Sitaleki Akauola, Matty Ashton, Blake Austin, Rob Butler, Josh Charnley, Daryl Clark, Jason Clark, Mike Cooper, Ben Currie, Matt Davis, Chris Hill, Jack Hughes, Toby King, Jake Mamo, Robbie Mulhern, Joe Philbin, Stefan Ratchford, Josh Thewlis, Danny Walker, Gareth Widdop, Connor Wrench.
