EXCELLENT science teaching and learning at Warrington’s Callands Primary Academy has been recognised in a national awards scheme.
The school has achieved the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM), a nationally recognised accreditation that celebrates a commitment to developing excellence in science leadership, curriculum design, teaching and learning.
PSQM director Helen Sizer said: “Our congratulations go to the whole school community on this achievement and particularly to the school’s science subject leader, Julie Lee, who has led this process through participation in the PSQM professional learning programme and by driving a cycle of reflection, development and improvement across the school.
“Mrs Lee’s leadership helps to ensure that all children benefit from high-quality science teaching and learning.”
Julie Lee said: “This achievement reflects a genuine whole-school effort. Staff and pupils have worked exceptionally hard, and their commitment to developing science over the past year has been outstanding. The positive impact on both curriculum design and teaching and learning is clear to see.”
Headteacher Siobhan Bentley added: “This award is real recognition of the excellence of science leadership, curriculum design, teaching and learning at Callands Primary Academy. I couldn’t be prouder of the team and all they have achieved.”
The PSQM recognises a school’s commitment to developing and strengthening science education, celebrating the positive impact this has on children’s learning and understanding of the world around them.
Callands Primary Academy is one of nine primary schools that make up Warrington Primary Academy Trust (WPAT), a community of more than 2,600 children aged 2 to 11
