LOCAL residents turned out in force for a spectacular afternoon of family entertainment at the Great Sankey Summer Fun Day.
The popular annual community event, organised and funded by the Great Sankey Parish Council, took place at Dakota Park in Chapelford village. Benefiting from good weather, the free-to-enter festival brought neighbours together for a packed schedule of fairground rides, local artisan stalls, live music from Radio Warrington, and vibrant dance showcases.
One of the major highlights of the afternoon was the highly anticipated Fun Dog Show. For a £1 entry fee per category, residents proudly paraded their four-legged companions across several well-attended classes. All proceeds raised from the dog show categories were donated directly to Guide Dogs. Every participating canine left with treats and prizes, ensuring a rewarding day out for the area’s pet owners.

Beyond the dog ring, Dakota Park was transformed into a bustling festival hub. Families queued up for affordable £1 fairground rides, with all proceeds dedicated to local causes. Children also enjoyed complimentary face painting, circus skills workshops, and a wide array of games. The main arena stayed energised throughout the afternoon with stunning live showcases from talented local groups, including SS Dance, Elysian Dance & Fitness, and Birch Beam Dance.
An expansive selection of stalls kept the crowds fed and refreshed, featuring local vendors like Penketh Nutrition and AM’s Delicious Desserts, alongside ice cream vans, hot dog stands, crepes, and sweet treats.
Reflecting on the day, local organisers expressed immense gratitude to the community for turning out in such high numbers to support the event, praise the local talent, and strengthen Great Sankey’s community spirit.
