Why cervical screening matters
Cervical screening is a test to check the health of the cervix. It checks for certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV) that can lead to changes to the cells of the cervix. Detecting and treating these changes early helps prevent cervical cancer.
Cervical screening is offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64 every 5 years, and it plays a vital role in saving lives each year.
Cllr Tony Higgins, Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, said: “If you’re due or overdue for a cervical screening, this is a simple and convenient opportunity to get checked. It only takes a few minutes, but it could make a life-saving difference. If you’re not able to visit the Living Well Bus, you can book your cervical screening test through your GP or attend local sexual health service.”
