The University of Chester is hosting a vibrant programme of inclusive activities at University Centre Warrington in support of Warrington Pride 2026, taking place on Saturday, June 13.
As part of the day’s celebrations, the University will open its doors in Time Square to the public, offering a welcoming and safe space for learning, creativity and connection.
From 1.30pm to 3pm, audiences are invited to attend two exciting events: a free talk on Exploring Queer History and a live interview that will address issues about Trans rights. The session features writer and musician Jasmine Lawrie, followed by an engaging interview and Q&A with Professor Hannah Bacon from the University of Chester and Amanda Hilton, Lead Trustee of Liverpool City Region Pride Foundation and Chair of the Warrington Pride Planning Group. Both events will take place in the upstairs Lecture Room A, providing an opportunity for attendees to reflect on queer histories, lived experience and contemporary conversations.
Earlier in the day, from 10am to 2pm, the downstairs foyer will host Crafty Pride activities led by WYZ, offering a range of hands-on creative opportunities including bracelet making, ribbon crafting, pronoun badge creation and more. These activities are open to all ages and provide an inclusive way for participants to express identity and allyship.
A Queer Coffee Lounge will also take place from 11.30am to 4pm, creating a relaxed and supportive social environment.
Professor Hannah Bacon said: “At the University of Chester, we are committed to creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels seen, respected and valued. Our involvement in Warrington Pride reflects our ongoing support for LGBTQIA+ communities, and we are proud to help foster dialogue, creativity and belonging through events like these.”
