New additions on and off the pitch at Warrington Town

WARRINGTON Town have stepped up their preparations for next season with four new signings – and have unveiled two new stands at Cantilever Park.

The two new all-seater stands are situated either side of the existing covered terrace at the Cantilever bridge end of the ground, and were lifted in to place at the end of last week.

Further work continues to complete their installation, as well as create a new mini-fanzone area at that end of the ground.

And manager Paul Carden has now confirmed his first four new signings for the 2026/27 campaign.

Midfielders Bobby Bjork and Lewis Earl arrive from Lancaster and Bootle respectively, while former Prescot duo Jack Goodwin and Alex McNally have both made the switch to the Yellows.

Goodwin is a winger, while McNally is no stranger to the club having been on the fringes of the squad as a youngster in preparation for the first season in National League North.

Bjork caught the eye in the Northern Premier League last season and former Preston youngster Earl has had spells at Bury and Marine.

Carden said: “I’ve known Jack a long time, I coached him maybe 10 years ago now at Blackburn. I tried to sign him last summer but he wanted to give it another season at Prescot, so when he let me know he was leaving this time, I wanted to do what I could to bring him in.

“He’s someone who will excite the fans. He can travel with the ball, he’s got good pace, good power, good ability and he is a goal threat. He’s said to me he wants to get more goals, which is what we want and that’s what we need.”

“(Lewis) has been on the radar for a while. He’s played a good amount of games and he’s the type of footballer we want, he’s got a good energy about him. He’s quick for his size, but a talented footballer as well.

“(Alex) is a versatile defender, very strong and probably a little bit old school. He played most games for Prescot last season and I think he cleaned up at their Player of the Year awards. He’s young, he’s 22, but he’s got a good level of experience. He comes here again with an appetite to want to do well and kick on.

“Bobby is someone who has been of interest for some time, and I think Bobby’s strength and energy is really good. He’s an infectious character, he’s a bright lad and we need that type of player who’s going to give us strength and be able to cover the ground box to box and he’s got that in abundance.”

The Yellows are expected to get their business done early ahead of their opening pre-season game, away at Widnes Town on July 11th. Their first home friendly is against Chester on July 18th.

With the addition of the new stands, the capacity at Cantilever Park is now just over 3,100, including 612 seats. Work on the pitch and the installation of new goal posts is ongoing.
